Exhilarating racing. Records
broken by the brave. Hospitality setting new standards.
Stratstone club members experienced history being made at the
beautifully situated Shelsley Walsh.
Customers arrived early to the
picturesque cottages that provided the perfect setting for our VIP
area and public viewing gallery of some of the best cars of today:
including the
Ferrari Italia and the all-new Jaguar
XKR-S.
As the beautiful weather continued throughout
the day, the pit and paddock were alive with the excitement of
racing that can be felt as you walked through the grid of cars
waiting anxiously for their turn to conquer the hill.
Dramatic vistas greeted the crowd as they watched the cars storm
past at speeds in excess of 140mph.
The catering team famous for cooking up
beautiful food for the likes of Top Gear tantalised the taste buds
of club members with a sublime breakfast, hog roast and cream
tea. Plus Stratstone raised a fantastic £411.13 for our
chosen charity
‘Action for Children.’
“It’s the biggest turn out of all the recent racing
meets.” Famous commentator, Jon Moody claimed. “Cars are
parked as the eye can see, we’ve had some excellent racing action
and from what I saw in the commentary box, Stratstone did very well
also.”
The event drew to its eventual close, pit
crews began to pack their equipment, and the spirit of the
race will stay with everyone, as 2011 has been both one of the best
and one of the fastest events at Shelsley Walsh.
“There have been several new class records
thanks to the warm track, warm tyres, warm cars and dry weather
bringing out the best in the competitors’ cars.” Jon Moody
summarised. “The advancements made every year in these cars
are just astonishing, and it’s fantastic to see the huge amount of
people who turned out to watch the action unfold.”
The Stratstone Events Team would like to thank
The Stratstone Club members for
attending the event, the catering team for placing a fantastic
feast for everyone, and the drivers for making Shelsley Walsh the
precedent in hill climbing that it continues to be today.
We eagerly await the next Shelsley
Walsh event (find out more here) and have plenty of
other fantastic experiences to round off 2011 in racing style,
which you can view here. But,
as always, good day and good race.
